Terms and Conditions

By purchasing an animal from Blackthorn Exotics, you are acknowledging that you have read, understood and agree to the terms and conditions outlined here. 

Shipping
  • We ship during the week Monday-Wednesday with the exception of holidays, weather dependent.
  • We ship Overnight with FedEx via Reptile Runner or Reptile Express. The buyer must be present to receive the package on the first delivery attempt or all guarantees are void.
  • We will only ship when shipping temperatures at both ends are between above -5°C and under 20°C for delivery. To guarantee the animals for a hub to hub pick up the animal must be picked up within 4 hours of arrival or guarantee is void. 
  • Any shipment routing changes on the part of the customer will result in voiding our live arrival guarantee.
  • All animals have a live and healthy arrival guarantee. If your animal does arrive deceased (DOA) we are happy to ship a replacement to you, or offer a credit for when a preferred animal becomes available. We do not offer refunds on DOA unless in approved circumstances. We must be notified immediately in the event of a DOA.
  • Pickup is available in Central Alberta with an appointment, but please note our space is private and closed to the public. 
  • Buyer is responsible for all shipping fees associated with shipping the animal(s).
  • In the case of geckos, we are not responsible for tail loss during shipping. This can happen at any point, and is out of our hands. 

Animal Sales and Conditions
  • We reserve the right to refuse sale to any buyer, for any reason. Sorry, no sales to minors. Proof of age may be required at our discretion.
  • Please be aware of your own local wildlife laws and regulations. No shipments will be knowingly sent in violation of any provincial or federal laws.
  • We do our best to determine the sex of each animal given the experience and tools at our disposal, but do not guarantee the sex unless it is a proven breeder. Each animal is it's own being, and thus we cannot guarantee the temperament of an animal. This can change with age, husbandry and seasons. We are happy to answer any questions about suspected gender or temperament.  
  • When you purchase an animal from Blackthorn Exotics, you are expected to have researched and have a good understanding of the care and husbandry of each animal, and we may require proof of that. 
  • Juvi animals will be held until they are an appropriate and established size before shipment.
  • We offer a 30 day health guarantee on our animals. If your animals health starts to decline in the slightest, please contact us immediately and we will trouble shoot with you. Please keep in mind that this health guarantee only applies when the animal has been taken care of well and the husbandry parameters are being met. 
  • We offer support for the animal throughout their life. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do contact us and we will be happy to help.
Payments, Holds and Payment Plans
  • Payments can be made via e-transfer, PayPal or credit card through Square or Stripe. 
  • Payment plans are available on approval if your total exceeds $500. In order to set up a payment plan, you will be asked to make a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the animal total. Full amount is to be paid within 60 days, or before shipping, whichever comes sooner. On preparing for shipping you will be invoiced for shipping fees as well if you choose not to include it with your deposit. 
  • Winter Holds are available as soon as shipping closes for winter. There are no fees for winter holds over the 2023/2024 cold season.
